My dear, longstanding friend Rob Griffiths has been writing, recording and releasing songs with his band Little Murders since the late 1970s.
Rob is a master songwriter. Working closely with him for several years as a member of the band and playing on a couple of Murders albums gave me insight into his dedication to his craft.
What I saw was a highly focused, prolific artist who writes most every day – he’s never short of ideas and has a seemingly endless supply of classic guitar pop melodies.
I’m not the only one who admires Rob’s work. This week, a pretty impressive list of local and international artists have come together to pay respect to the Murders legacy with the release of ‘Things will be different – a tribute to Little Murders’.
Hearing this selection of Rob’s songs reinterpreted by others, including friends and artists who I respect greatly, really confirms what many of us have known all along: Rob’s songs are timeless, classic and brilliant. They are deceivingly simple and once they get inside your head, they never really go away.
‘Things will be different’ is available now at the Little Murders Bandcamp page – check it out and perhaps even consider buying a copy to help fund the next Little Murders release, which is never far away: https://littlemurders.bandcamp.com
